Collection: Ross McHutcheon

For all of my working life, I’ve been involved in education across Queensland the Northern Territory and South Australia. Throughout my journey, art has been a means of understanding and becoming immersed in the local area.

Everyone loves art and I have always held the belief that we are all capable of painting and creating - in our own unique way.

Most recently I spent three years in the Northern Territory and in that location, the landscape literally encouraged me to use vibrant colours and themes. Now that I’m back in Mackay, my art continues to evolve.

Using ancrylics ink and pastels, my paintings are a reflection of my mood and thoughts at that point in time. My love of abstract and surrealism is often a comfortable fit with landscapes.

My first solo exhibition (There’s Always Something) was in 2024 at the Godinmayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Cultural Centre in Katherine.
